It can’t shouldn’t be undone.
Life can and does get in the way of our hopes, dreams, and plans. Women in a crisis pregnancy walks into a clinic hoping to find a quick answer to her problem: she’s pregnant, and she feels there is no way of escape. Her world has been turned upside down as she faces the consequences of her actions. Planned Parenthood will most likely offer her only one option in spite of what many think: Abort. But, in the woman’s heart, she knows that she can either keep her baby or give it up for adoption.
Some reasons for choosing abortion can vary:
- Incest or rape
- Fetal abnormalities
- Doctor advised against it due to health
- Didn’t want to be a single parent
- Couldn’t afford a child
- A child would interfere with plans for the future.
Many women facing a crisis pregnancy can become confused, fearful, angry, guilty, depressed, suicidal, hopeless, and in most cases feel worthless. These emotions are understandable, but many women aren’t given the opportunity to know all their options, or to even receive an ultrasound.
Women who find themselves in this situation need help. We need to offer hope, reduce their anxiety, and reassure them that there is no problem too big for God. As we listen to their stories and their fears, allowing them to speak, we can encourage them to save their baby.
ADOPTION IS AN OPTION
Tim, an adoptive father, says, “As an adoptive father myself, it hurts me every time I hear and know of an abortion, because that is one less baby to go to a childless couple, like we were, who desperately want one.”
Teri, an adoptive mother, says their adopted son, Pat, “has been such a joy for us . . . he makes us laugh . . . and we’re so grateful his birth parents didn’t abort him.” Their son is now 32 years old.
Heidi, who is not only an adoptive parent but also an adoptee, says, “Adoption for me is everything that I am, everything that I was meant to be and what my children will see as who we are as a family. It has unfolded not only the gift of life for me as an adoptee, but gave me the gift of motherhood 35 years later.”
There are organizations who are ready to help women who find themselves in an unwanted pregnancy. And many childless couples pray and are waiting to adopt so they can feel the joy of a child to love. Each adoption is unique and the process time may vary from one adoption to another, but it is worth the wait not only for the adoptive parents, but for a precious child.

There is no better time or greater time than to go see the movie, Unplanned, that will hit theaters March 29th, 2019. It’s the heartwarming story of Abbey Johnson, former Director at Planned Parenthood. “What she saw changed everything.” She walked out and devoted her life to help women make the right choice through compassion and love to keep her child. Hopefully, her message will resonate throughout this great land and the world.
